Class activity – We created a list of abstract nouns which Alison wrote down and put away for later. She then asked us to think about an everyday object and write a small piece on it. When we’d finished writing, we revisited the abstract nouns list and chose one word from it to be our title. Mine is below
It site there, staring at me, knowing, judging, taunting, twinkling; its icy hard metallic flesh laughing at my own – soft, doughy, sticky and peppered with hot embers of sweat. I shift uncomfortably in its torturous embrace determined not to let is see the full extent of the agony it is causing. Shame. Guilt. Rage. At the mercy of each rhythmic rotation of its claws. Breathless I avoid eye contact for fear that to expose my own self loathing would create an opening just wide enough for its cruel mechanic laughter to penetrate.
I wrote about an exercise bike!
